The 17 piece Swing Machine has a working library of over 350 charts including many arrangements as played by the great jazz bands of the 30s and 40s such as Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Bunny Berigan, Will Bradley, Ray McKinley, Les Brown, Larry Clinton, Bob Crosby, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Roy Eldridge, Duke Ellington, Dennis Farnon, Bob Florence, Benny Goodman, Glen Gray, Erskine Hawkins, Fletcher Henderson, Harlen Leonard, Jimmy Lunceford, Ray Noble, Jan Savitt, Bobby Sherwood, Rex Stewart, Claude Thornhill, Chick Webb and that other guy: Glenn Miller. The band also performs from custom charts written especially for the Swing Machine. For song samples and the song library see our Songbook.
Vocalists on occasion are Avon Campredon, Tia Harris-Roseboro, Rod Sewer, Warren Clark and Vaughn Wiester who sings with the small band. You can find a little bit more about the history of the band and Larry here.
Our orchestra plays for dancing from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. the first Friday of most months at the Dublin Recreation Center (5600 Post Road in Dublin). In 2012 the June and August concert dates are shifted to the second Friday. The gate is all of five bucks which may include light snacks. See the calendar of the public shows here.
Make your event really special by having a live jazz band perform for your guests. The Swing Machine is available for weddings, dance parties, private and corporate events, community events, holiday parties, class reunions, New Year's Eve concerts, grand openings, music festivals or any other event looking for a big band. Smaller bands featuring musicians out of the Swing Machine are also available to fit the venue. The band is based in Columbus, Ohio but will travel within reason.
